BannerNews to Relaunch as a Digital Local News Source in 2026

BannerNews is preparing to relaunch in 2026, bringing a historic local news name back to Belmont and surrounding Gaston County communities in a modern digital format.

The publication traces its roots to The Belmont Banner, established in 1888. For generations, the Banner served as a source of local information, community updates, and hometown coverage. After later becoming part of Banner News in 2014 and closing in 2022, the publication is now being prepared for a new chapter.

The revived BannerNews will focus on local news, events, business openings, city updates, community stories, development, schools, nonprofit work, and local history across Belmont, Cramerton, Lowell, McAdenville, Mount Holly, Stanley, and nearby communities.

As the region continues to grow, BannerNews aims to help residents stay informed about the decisions, events, and stories shaping their towns.

Coverage will include a mix of public articles, email updates, and future subscriber-focused content. Readers will be able to follow local headlines, submit story ideas, share community announcements, and receive updates as the publication prepares for launch.

BannerNews will launch first as a digital publication, with plans to expand coverage and community features over time.

Residents, businesses, schools, nonprofits, and local organizations are encouraged to share news tips, event information, historic photos, and story ideas ahead of the official relaunch.

BannerNews is expected to return in 2026.
